We celebrate a female director telling stories about men – men as heroes, men as flawed adrenaline junkies, men who have fear, men who die, men who care about each other. We celebrate “The Hurt Locker,” a film by a woman about men.

Let’s be revolutionary. Let’s celebrate stories about women, that celebrate their risk-taking, their flaws, their losses and their joys. Let’s tell stories about women that are entertaining, thought-provoking, sexy, smart and all things that we women are. Let’s be revolutionary and reflect our visions on a screen of a world free from violence, rape, and full of sex, relationships, drama, and humanity. That’s my vote.
”

-
Women Directors React to the Bigelow Win | Women &

Yes, let’s make those movies, let’s tell our stories, but let’s be GOOD at it. Watch a Nancy Meyers movie and then watch The Hurt Locker. They are not at the same level, and I’m not even talking about the story or subject matter, I’m talking about what they look like, how they flow, how they are set up. It’s not the same.

Also, almost all the fiction I write is from the male perspective. I am in my own very female brain and life all damn day, when I write, I want to go somewhere else.

hey ladies!

hey ladies!:
the writer of the story in the NYT conveniently ignored this line in the abstract for the study: ” Body weight was self-reportedon baseline and 8 annual follow-up questionnaires.”

I don’t think that you understand that vegan men get more than enough shit from the omni community, particularly other men. It would be nice if our sisters could be solid with us rather than telling us that we are stinking up their yoga classes. Regardless of how you feel about it, veganism and vegetarianism are perceived by many omnis as feminine, so vegan men are already fighting not only the typical anti-veg rhetoric, but get alot of comments about tofu, estrogen, etc… could we not get more of the same from a vegan blog of all places? But, if you honestly stand by this post and think that its harmless and funny, then I guess this isn’t the place for people like me. My earlier post is pretty caustic, I’ll admit, but the post is actually satire, unlike the video, which seems like some personal issues being unfairly projected to others. Which is fine. But I didn’t think vegansaurus was the type of place to reblog content like that.”

-
and here i thought vegan men lacked aggression b/c of ALL THAT TOFU AND ESTROGEN RUNNING THROUGH THEIR VEINS.

This song about vegan boys being the worst is THE BEST, I am in love with it.

My favorite parts:

- I don’t like you! Just your values!

and

- Stop showing up to my bikram class, I don’t want to see your sweaty vegan ass!

UGH SO GOOD.

Abby issues a disclaimer with the video, “I‘m vegan! I like vegans (mostly)! But what’s up, dudes? (Hey, it’s a satire-ish, so don’t get your panties in an uproar, my little herbivores.)”

So everyone calm down and I triple dog dare you to not be singing, “I’m a vegan! You’re a vegan! But Vegansexual is not a real word!” over and over again by lunch. Hell, I’ve been singing it to my vegan boyfriend for a couple days now, HE LOVES IT!

Speaking of Vegansexuals, Maria has a story about one in a real (soon to be) printed and published book! It’s too late to invest in it now but when it comes out, you need to buy it and laugh and laugh.

Your ID is your ticket to life here, and I live in a new dorm, so my ID also unlocks the to door to my room. I usually leave it in the same place, but I couldn’t find it. I looked in the pockets of my jeans and in the pockets of my coat, thinking how did it walk out of here? I often wake up in the middle of the night thinking someone’s broken into my room and thought that maybe it had happened and someone had stolen my ID (but left my iPhone and laptop? Maybe that person really wanted to borrow library books and eat meals in the dining halls. An extremely intellectual and hungry thief). Finally found it, in the same place I usually left it, but underneath a book I had been reading. Crisis averted.
