So yeah, slowly bleeding myself of the baggage of all the stupid stuff I own and I’ve been doing that through Craigslist. We already covered my sad desk drama and how I lost the 100 dollars she gave me.
Next was my IKEA shelf that I sold to a nice Indian girl who worked for some kind of sustainability start up. She came over to my house to pick it up with her boyfriend while my housemate had a dinner party. I hope she didn’t notice I probably smelled like the three glasses of wine I had had with dinner.
After that, was the rug I bought when I thought I wanted to decorate my room like a “Japanese teenager”. It turns out I kind of hate rugs and keeping it clean was impossible. I offered this one for free and got a ton of emails in response, the lucky winner was a guy who lived nearby who was on disability. He sent me two very sweet emails and after being flaked on by two separate people for the rug, I gave it to him. He came and picked it up immediately.
Today I got rid of an old Powerbook (kind of sad to lose it as it was a nice old girl, a black g3 powerbook I too bought off of CL but I lost the wi-fi card and having two computers at this point just isn’t practical and it was running 0S 9 of all things.) I sold it to a nice older man who said he “loved” OS 9. His emails made him sound like he was going to be a young dude, but I think he was an old hippie. Very sweet.
The last victim was my DVD player, which was a birthday present from Joe in 2005. I had no attachment to it and was glad to get rid of it. The lucky winner was a woman who’s email address was “ecowitch” and rode a motorcycle. It seemed like she watched a lot of movies. I’m glad the DVD player now has a nice home!
Feels good to purge.
